SEMI National Board: ELECTION NOTIFICATION & APPLICATION FOR 2022-2024 TERM

Dear SEMI Member

Greetings from SEMI office bearers.

I, Dr. Saravana Kumar, National Secretary SEMI, hereby announce the elections and call for nominations for the following office bearers posts, for the period of 2022-2024 as per constitution of SEMI section 4.

National President – 1 post

National Vice President – 5 posts (East, West, North, South & Central)

National General Secretary – 1 post

National Treasurer – 1 post

Please find the application form with further details – SEMI Nomination Form 2022-2024 . Last date for receiving signed hard copy of nomination form along with, photograph and demand draft at SEMI Head Office address is 15th Sep 2022 (by 4pm). Nominations via email, social media, whatsapp, etc is not permitted.

The elections and new board announcement will be at SEMI’s annual general body meeting (AGM) at Trivandrum, during EMCON 2022. The venue will be intimated soon.

This same notice has also been sent via email to all SEMI members on their registered email address and also posted in all SEMI state chapters, academic and hospital groups.

SEMI Members Communication – Postponement of EMCON 2020 due to Covid-19

Dear SEMI Member

Greetings from SEMI

We hope you are all keeping safe in this pandemic times and appreciations to all members of SEMI who are the front liners in this fight against pandemic.

This year has been tough for all of us and many of our plans have to be put on hold or cancelled and we hope the situation improves soon in the coming months.

As you all know that the lock down and Disaster Act is in force across India, we are forced to postpone our annual national emergency medicine conference EMCON 2020. We will reassess the situation in February 2021 to plan a hybrid event based on the situation which will also help with our elections for board positions.

During this time we will continue to strengthen our membership drive and we hereby request all SEMI members who have not received their membership number/card to apply to get your card/number (with proof of membership fee paid).

All CCT EM students of the 2020-2023 batch, their fees included SEMI membership and they need not pay for membership separately.

Since the SEMI board elections are due this year, based on the SEMI constitution guidelines, it is decided by the executive chair and the board to postpone the elections by 3 months and hold the SEMI board elections in February 2021. The present board will continue in the interim period.

We are getting back on track with our second collaborative event with IFEM in 2020, the International E-journal clud this November for all EM trainees in India. We encourage all of you to actively participate in this E-meet. The registration is complimentary for all SEMI members.

Message from Vice-President of India

Our Honorable Vice-President Shri M. Venkaiah Naidu, has sent a message addressed to all emergency physicians, emergency nurses and emergency paramedics who are working in India, on the occasion of ACEM 2019.

MESSAGE

I am happy to know that the Society of Emergency Medicine India (SEMI), is organizing the 10th Asian Conference of Emergency Medicine ACEM 2019 from November 7 -10, 2019 at The Leela Ambience Convention Hotel, Delhi.

Emergency Care and Emergency Medicine play a vital role in the health care system. The initial management and stabilization of a patient in need of emergency care is truly a specialty on its own and requires intensive training and resources. Very often, the availability of quality emergency care makes the difference between life and death.

I am sure, being one of the largest professional societies of Emergency Medicine, SEMI would play an important role in making the emergency care in our country more robust and professionally competent.

I am happy to note that several leading Emergency Care professionals of India and abroad would be participating in the conference and will deliberate and discuss various facets of this emerging field of Medicine.

I extend my greetings and congratulations to the organizers and the participants and wish the event all success.

SEMI Vision 2020

SEMI Vision 2020 is effective from November 2016 – November 2020

To bring recognition on to all academic training programs that are creating emergency physicians for India, and integrate those under one single standardized board certification.
To spread awareness about emergency medicine specialty among healthcare & non-healthcare professionals, and general public.
To maintain unity among the different groups of emergency physicians in India, and to channel their strengths towards EM development.
To improve emergency medical care in non-urban and rural communities.
To incorporate appropriate emergency medicine training within MBBS and postgraduate curriculum.
To create standardized patient treatment and emergency department process guidelines.
To promote gender equality in EM training, employment & governance; to remove gender bias and discrimination from patient care.
To promote research in EM and publication of research.
To promote more conferences & CMEs in emergency medicine.
To provide free first-aid & BLS training to the public.
To facilitate EM faculty development and leadership activities.
To develop pre-hospital emergency care and pediatric emergency medicine.

National Basic Life Support

Society for Emergency Medicine India (SEMI) has successfully launched the first set of National Basic Life Support (NBLS) courses on 28th October 2018, in Hyderabad city.

This great launch was assisted by emergency medicine departments of multiple hospitals in Hyderabad. Teams of life-support instructors conducted NBLS sessions for non-healthcare personnel at multiple locations, and trained more than 1500 people in just 2 weeks. NBLS is part of SEMI initiative to bring awareness in common public about emergency conditions and to train them to identify, act immediately before reaching to emergency experts/hospitals.

SEMI recommends all the emergency medicine departments in the country to conduct NBLS uniformly and periodically to build the community trust in the emergency care.
